Landscapes

My husband and I went "leaf peeping" last weekend and I got some wonderful landscape shots. This one is really nice and peaceful. We spent a lot of time here playing with our dogs in the water and enjoying our natural surroundings.I have posted some of those photos on Flickr and the bridge you see in the distance is in my framing blog.

I have no idea who these buildings belong too but they caught my eye the way they just sat there in the middle of this beautiful landscape. I know we worked with thirds but I felt that this picture worked best centered so that it could be surrounded. I didn't want to stand to close or zoom in because I wasn't trying to focus on the buildings.

When I was taking this shot I was looking at a big area that seemed to go on forever and felt that it would look neat to have this little tree be in the center and have the landscape be in the background.

Most of the time I get really frustrated when I want to take a really nice shot and there are power lines in it but not in this shot. The power lines actually add to this photo and add depth to it. I had my husband pull over for this shot because I was so overwhelmed with beauty that I wanted to capture it. I like how the road is on the third. (Just happened that way because I was standing on the passenger side of the car.)

Christina I love your pictures. This is definitely my favorite time to shoot the landscapes in Vermont. The colors are so pretty, and I like the spots you choose to photograph!

I really enjoy the shot with the powerlines. The rule of threes works great here with the road left of center. It lets your eyes slowly roll down the street, looking left and right taking in the foliage. I almost feel like I'm there. I also agree about the lines. They are right in this shot. They add realism. I like it.

Color is amazing and the grey cast of the clouds gives more credence to the colors of the foliage/landscape. Great use of pathways and direction in regard to the river - sense of age as the older the river the more curves it has... (same for the hill shot with the road on the left as opposed to being centered).

You did a really great job with these. I really liked your comment about telephone lines. I hate contrails from planes that always seem to ruin sunrises and sunsets. So when we get to working with the clone stamp in particular I want you to copy one of these shots and take out the telephone poles as you assignment that week okay? It's fun...and I agree with Travis that the poles at to the perspective aspect where you can see the vanishing point in this photo!
